Victoria Thompson Bey is the founder of AACTA, the African American of the Arts. The organization was created in February of 2003, as a result of her desire to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions and talents that individuals from the African Diaspora give to the performing arts.  In addition, she values and has taken to heart a quote contributed to Maulana Karanga, the creator of Kwanzaa and the US Organization which states, You can live in no other way, after death, accept through your word, works and deeds.   She sees the AACTA Onyx Awards as something positive that she can leave here on earth. when her time as a traveler on this plane of life has ended.

Ms Bey is administrator with the Pittsburgh Public Schools and has been involved in the performing arts in many capacities including, acting, directing, stage managing, operating light and sound, house managing, acquiring props, costuming, running concessions, tour manager, to name a few.  She is a public speaker and event organizer.

She is a graduate of the Pittsburgh Public Schools and a proud Pitt Alumnus who holds a B.A. in Child Development and Early Childhood Education as well as a Master s degree in Administration and Policy Studies.

Ms Bey is a native of Pittsburgh and has one child, Cyrene
